Marriage At First Sight

I had a little downtime this morning before I went to work, so I turned on the TV and started to flip through the channels when I stumbled on a show called Married at First Sight. It was a repeat episode because the show apparently premiered last year but I couldn’t help but tune in. So I may be late in the game here but man this show blow my mind!

The concept is that two strangers meet for the first time on their wedding day! What!? They didn’t even know each other’s name until they said I do. I was hooked immediately. The idea is so absurd to me. They called it a social experiment because the three couples were paired together by four experts and at the end of six months they had to decide whether or not they wanted to stay married.

I am personally not a big believer in divorce so the idea is seems so strange to me. Now, I believe that in certain circumstances divorce is ok like abuse, consistent cheating etc. but for the most part I believe that marriage is a sacred bond between two people that requires a lot of work and attention. It isn’t easy nor is it outrageously difficult but it’s one hell of an adventure. Each person has to give 100%. You are a team. And it requires all of your trust and you need to learn how to love your spouse even when you don’t want too.

Anyways, this show just blindsided me with curiosity. I am not usually a TV person not do I get hooked on shows easily but the idea of getting married at first sight is just crazy fascinating.

I’m not sure I could do it. I don’t think I’m that brave nor would I ever trust anyone enough to find my “perfect match.”

What about you? Could you marry a complete stranger at first sight?
