Happiness at the Coastal Carolina Fair

I had more fun today then I have had in a long time. Probably since our vacation to the Bahamas to honest.

As much as I love spending time with my husband I like having time to myself too and today I was able to do just that. I woke up around ten and stayed in my PJs while I ate breakfast in front of the TV. How often do we get to do that anymore?

After breakfast I showered and decided to get some candles at the mall because I could! It was awesome just to be alone and do whatever. No worries or stress just relaxing and catching up with some me time.

Around 4:30 David came home from work and we decided to go to the famed Coastal Carolina Fair. I’m so glad we did. Not only was it massive but we had an amazing time.

Tonight was our fair food adventure and next Friday we plan on going back for the large and quite impressive selection of rides.

We tried a fried snickers for the first time ever. It wasn’t gross, necessarily, but I wouldn’t say it was the best thing ever. For me it was a bit much. But when in the South you eat what you shouldn’t. It’s just a fact of life. There was fried food everywhere even fried pizza… Which just sounds nasty to me.

We also ate some pizza (regular unfried pizza), lemonade, peanuts, and cotton candy. We went all out. The pizza we ate was surprisingly fresh. The dough was made from scratch and the vegetables were perfectly crisp.

Aside from eating David and I also went on a paddle boat and strolled around a pond. It was majesticly beautiful and so much fun because I had never been on a paddle boat before and the only boat David had ever been on was with one of his brothers.

The best part about the evening, however, was the free SMASHMOUTH concert. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that they were playing, it was an amazing surprise.

Being there and listening to all there songs reminded me so much of my childhood. Memories flooded through me like the feeling of ice water on a hot day. My mom, brother, and I used to sing the song the song “All Star” all the time.

My mom would do these great dance moves while lip singing to the song. I distinctly remember her literally making and L on her forehead like the song suggests. I honestly couldn’t stop smiling.

It was one of those moments in life that seeps comfort into your bones. My mom was excited when I told where I was because those memories are rich in her mind too. Isn’t it amazing how music can you bring you back in time?

Overall tonight was amazing and I cannot wait to come back next week for the rides.

Oh, and one more thing we walked through the agricultural section and got to see all the adorable farm animals!
